Here are the first steps of building a scratchbuild grain elevator.
First I tried to find a drawing of a grain elevator. That wasn’t easy to say the least. After several attempts I decided to take the measurements of my grain elevator from a picture. (left)
In the previous post the are two pictures of the Home Grain Co Ltd grain elevator. I took the size of the boxcar and the elevator on the picture and projected this on a piece of cardboard made of an empty cornflake box.
I glued the pieces together and reinforced the building with pieces of stripwood on the inside. After two hours of drying I sprayed the building with black paint. This way you will not see the white background between the pieces of stripwood later on.
